Research
I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) at SPSCC. To prepare, I attended the BS in CS presentation during Pathways Day, where I learned about the program from the program leads. Additionally, I spoke with a recruiter from Microsoft, who shared her knowledge on career expectations and how to succeed in the field.
What I Learned From My Research
-
My passion for computers goes beyond work—I’ve been playing with computers and programming for years.
-
Talking with a Microsoft recruiter helped me realize how important networking is within the field and helped me receive an invitation to a private conference this summer.
-
I feel confident in my ability to balance the workload, as long as I maintain a healthy work-life balance and mange my mental health.
Job Availability
As the tech industry grows and expands, more and more individuals with a BSCS will be needed in the workforce. BLS.Gov estimates that the field will grow by 33% over the next 10 years. This is much faster than almost any other occupation.
Future Research
I plan to keep attending in-person conferences, joining online lectures, and expanding my education in computer science outside of school. This will help me excel and stay up to date in such a constantly changing field.
